How do you cook rice? Quickly. After work. When you don’t have the brain space for weighing. Fretting. Fussing.
Someone very close to my heart taught me this, it’s why I’m marrying him.
How to cook rice, faultlessly, for the person you love:
1 cup of rice for 2 people.
Measure out the rice. Put it in your pan.
Add double the amount of water in cups to rice. 2:1 ratio, water to rice.
So for x2 people. One cup of rice and two cups of water.
Add some salt.
Bring to a simmer with the lid on (or you’ll be tutted at).
Once at a vigorous simmer. Bring down to the lowest setting on the hob.
Set that timer for 10 minutes.
Once that’s up. Turn off the heat.
Steam with the lid on for another 10 minutes. (Lid on!)
And done! Fluff it up with a fork and serve.
The ultimate sign of rice cooked well? A dry pan and a kiss on the forehead.
